The first half was us putting pressure on them. They were committed on defense, though. In the second half they opened up, which allowed our ball work to get through and get shots on goal.
There's only so much you can do. Valley's easily got a couple all-state players. Those guys are going to play Division I soccer and to face that kind of precision as a keeper is tough.
It was a good test against good competition to see where we're at, and I thought we came out and looked pretty seasoned. I was really happy with the way we were able to move the ball. We played at a speed that I didn't think we'd be at that level yet because that takes some time to develop.
That's their greatness - they're a quality side that can put a ball on where it needs to go. We knew about it, but we got ourselves turned around and then we never recovered.
I haven't really got a good look at some of those guys except for practice when they're going against the starting squad. I feel a lot better now after what I saw tonight. I think those guys off the bench can handle pressure and step in if we need them too.
In shootouts, when I send those guys out there, I have a specific order in mind and I think they follow each other well. I'm very confident any of those guys can put it in the net.
