We'll try to get him back on the mat as soon as possible. He definitely plays a key role on our team. It would make winning the zone tournament very tough if we didn't have him.
He didn't place and finished 3-2. He was a little disgusted, frustrated with his performance. He thought he could place.
He works hard day in and day out to improve his skills. He has a lot of heart. He's driven from within. We have the kids fill out goal sheets at the beginning of the year. He had some lofty goals.
We're real proud of his effort.
Our goal is to be better next week than we were this week. We have six kids in the top three that have a shot to place down there. Next tournament is a clean slate. It's all been basically practice to get here. If we can put it all together for one tournament, anything can happen.
He put in a lot of work over the summer. He really worked to improve. Playing varsity football, he's a hard-nosed kid. He has very solid (wrestling) technique. He's very strong at 130 pounds - that's one of his key traits.
That's what we're looking for. I feel real good about those guys. I think all six can place in this tournament.
He's improved every week since we started in November. He gets more confident each week.
