We had a great year. They were the No. 1 team and all that, and we had our chances and they had their chances.

People say that if you want to play soccer in college you have to play for us, all we do is steer kids in the right direction, then give them a kick in the pants for motivation.

It's one of those things where, if you put him up front the whole season, he leads the area in scoring. But we spoke to him and said we have our need, and it's in the back. He said it's no problem . . . He volunteered.

He's just a sophomore, and he's a stud. He only does it against the good teams. Imagine if we had an extra fullback and could run him up front all the time.

Anyone can take the best 11 kids around and form a team, it's the other 11 kids that don't get picked that will win you championships. Fire in the heart is all the motivation they need.

It's about all these guys who came before them. They all graduated, and they're playing in college. If they'd given up, there would have been no program.

It doesn't matter what your name is, or what license you hold, without 11 kids you don't have a team.
