It was a great moment for Michigan and for Michigan softball. I was so proud of those kids. They were incredible all week.

We're trying to get a look at the new team, the (2006) team. Our goal is to get the young kids some experience to see what they've got.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I thought that she pitched better in the first game than the second. She looked like she was steering her pitches a little bit (in the second game) and getting behind hitters. She's going to help us, but she has to improve.

There's no doubt that we really value the fall practice because of the weather in Michigan. We value getting to go out and play together, and it's hard for us to do that when there's snow on the ground.

I couldn't be prouder of them. I just don't want them to relax on this. The seniors kept this team focused all year, and I don't believe the (Big Ten regular-season title) will phase them.

The shortstop is like the point guard in basketball. Merchant was a key to every aspect of last year's team.

We won and we came here to win. We're trying to win this tournament, and it's the only tournament we care about.

I'm looking forward to meeting Alan Trammell and Kirk Gibson.
