We're responsible for eradicating discrimination but also for educating the public. Businesses not only need to make a profit, but they need to deal with regulations from the Labor Department, workers' compensation and a wide array of state laws.

Unfortunately, discrimination is alive and well. After 41 years of addressing it, we get over 80,000 complaints annually and over a million phone calls.

I find it very hard to believe that in 2006 we're finding incidents like this in the workplace.

I think that's really helped me. I've been able to bring a lot of credibility to my role. I've been there and seen things from a business perspective.
