Most people who are in custody are unhappy about that ... I'm hopeful he and I are going to build a rapport.

Mr. Wallace does not trust people working inside the system, and that's based on a lifetime of experience. I don't know exactly why he has the feelings that he has, but it takes time to build trust between an attorney and a client.

If something like that was said, I don't think that was his sincere desire. He didn't want to be physically present in front of the judge. So we came to an accommodation.

He wasn't feeling up to being in front of a judge. He didn't want to be shackled . . . but it was necessary for him to hear the court's ruling.
