If he were a guy in jail, nobody would think anything of it. He was able to channel that energy, that could have been turned into anger, instead into enthusiasm so other children don't have to go through the same thing he did.

We expect (contributions in) 2006 to be larger than ever before. People are recognizing that Southern Nevada has certain cultural, educational and community institutions that are vibrant players in philanthropy. We're seeing a philanthropic renaissance here.

The good news is children's related programs tend to be ones that receive a good bit of support, but even there they struggle in comparison to (those) three.

What's so promising about this is that we have all recognized as individual organizations that we can't do this alone.
