It would be an outstanding accomplishment to achieve this standard. But the credit is not all theirs because they don't control the weather. And this job is not over.

What makes this deal so bad for Iowans is that these facilities should control their pollution now. This just gives them a free pass, if it goes forward.

The bottom line is that the state should have had regulations in place to have a 20 percent reduction of these emissions in five basins by this year.

Particulate matter pollution kills people. We're a long way from cleaning up this problem.
