I was supposed to work two or three days scouting the Houston-LA series. They told me to come up to Seattle, and I spent seven weeks up here when they made that run to the championship. So I had two days' worth of clothes for seven weeks. You figure that one out.

I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

That was a great team. We knew how to win. I still remember this: The very first day of practice, we were training in Windsor, Canada, and the guys came out on the floor and said, 'We are going to win a championship.' And we did.

I have been an assistant long enough to know that you don't stop making suggestions if your suggestion is turned down. You just keep on making suggestions. If I make 10 suggestions, he is not going to use 10 of them, but he is going to use some of them.
