Brandon Inge
FameRank: 8

"Charles Brandon Inge" is a former Major League Baseball third baseman, although Inge has played many other positions including Catcher, Outfield, First Base and Second Base. Inge played 12 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, then one with the Oakland Athletics before being signed to the Pittsburgh Pirates' minor league system in 2013. He bats and throws right-handed.

Sportswriter Jayson Stark described Inge as a "super-utility dervish." In 2006, his diving stop and subsequent throw from his knees to put out Gary Bennett (baseball)/Gary Bennett in an Interleague play/interleague game, on June 25 against the St. Louis Cardinals earned him the ESPN defensive play of the year for a third baseman.

Sometimes people read him wrong because he's so quiet. But he's very clutch. He comes through for us in key situations. To me he's solid.

He had the best slider I've seen him have in four years. It looked like a fastball before you swung, then it just dropped.

We aren't feeling sorry for ourselves -- we play hard every day. But the last couple of weeks have been rough. It seems like we can't catch a break.

They did their best to give us the game. It just didn't go our way.

Anyone who gives up is worthless.

Tonight, it looked like a fastball, ... and as soon as you swung, the bottom dropped out of it.

It's all a matter of confidence. I think it took us taking two out of three against Boston (last week) for us to realize we could be a really good team.

We stunk. I've got nothing else to say.
