The key standards such as HTML have been developed by the industry working together. We support industry standards wherever possible.

Componentization would allow AOL to keep its own user interface with its own distinctive branding, controlling the user experience of AOL subscribers browsing the Web. That was important to AOL, which does not want its subscribers to think they were leaving the AOL service when they accessed content on the Internet.

They're win-win partnerships. (The partners) customers get the benefit of I E 3.0 and our customers get the benefit of their services and the content they provide.

Hundreds of people worked on it -- taking customer feedback. We want people to try it and compare it with the choices they have.
