After careful consideration I've decided we need to move in a different direction from a staffing standpoint on defense. We certainly wish coach Edwards the best and appreciate his loyalty and dedication to Furman football over the years.

Anytime you are ranked No. 2 in the country on the road, people are going to come out gunning for you. We were outplayed and out-coached, bottom line.

We've all been at Furman for so long. Being at Furman so long has led to loyalty. The transitions are so smooth.

That's the thing about Furman. I just felt like, if I stayed at Furman long enough I'd get a shot. I'm not sure what I would have done if I didn't get it, but we've always hired from within.

His first five days at spring practice were probably the best I've ever seen from anyone. The improvement he's made from his first practice a year ago is remarkable. I think he could be even better this season.

We were good enough to win, to beat the national champion last year. You just got to hand it to James Madison. They deserved it that day.

It had nothing to do with our season because we had an outstanding year.

Coming to Furman to play quarterback was just natural for me. But I knew I wanted to go into the coaching field.

We're not shooting from the hip when we talk to recruits about Furman. We're shooting from the heart.
