SDUIH has been a major factor in assisting individuals in controlling their own destiny with proper health care, and achieving the quality of medical care they desire. The loss of SDUIH would have a detrimental impact on the community as well as the health care of the Native American community.

SDUIH works with specialized, culturally identifiable medical needs such as diabetes, which affects more than 15 percent of the Native American population.
