This is a severe hardship on the families right here at school time. These people are economic refugees. They are having to leave to find work and they are skilled, so they can find jobs.

Our folks go out and eat, buy cars, do all these things. That's how the Pemco dollars get out into the community.

This is not a labor dispute. This is negotiations. Pemco has declared war on the workers.

Our members understand that insurance is a tough issue across the nation, and the members are willing to make reasonable compromises, as long as they are fair. But we demand fairness.

Our members will continue to man the picket line, and the solidarity and spirits of our members remain strong. There has been no change in the resolve of the IAM.

We're happy that Pemco is ready to go back to the negotiating table. Now that we are negotiating, there is no reason to continue the lockout. I urge them to get everybody back to work and sit down and do some hard bargaining for as long as it takes.

The camaraderie amongst runners is tremendous. I always have a wonderful time. I continue to be the oldest runner and that makes me feel good and people treat me so well that I feel like one of the boys.

A number of businesses called or came by to support the union after reading the articles (in the newspaper).

A lot of our people who can find work are going out of town.
