We need to be very, very clear here that state workers have made enormous sacrifices in this contract. We endured what amounts to a two-year wage freeze.

The issue for us is job security for our members.

We don't believe that fulfilling 65 percent of a pledge to fund the pensions fully meets the commitments that were made during the campaign.

The trends are all the same here, that no matter how profitable these companies get, they still are trying to downgrade these jobs. That's what we are trying to draw the line against. And we hope that the public will understand.

Closing Brisbane instead of improving it is a mistake. There is still time to change course and to do what's right for New Jersey's most troubled children.
