"Bob Gibbons" is a talent scout specializing in United States/American high school basketball players. He is based in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Gibbons founded All-Star Sports in 1974. Before that, he was a high school player and coach. He is one of those who is credited with transforming scouting of school-age basketball stars into an industry.

Gibbons publishes an annual ranking of the top 150 high school players in the U.S., as well as separate rankings of seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. He has also been on committees that select players for the annual McDonald's All-American Game/McDonald's High School All-American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit.

It could be the best class since the Fab Five.

I've never seen him play, and I don't know anyone who has. In this day and age of information, who's seen this kid play?

He's reputed to be a top international player, and from what I've heard in college circles he's a player who is loaded with potential. Generally, you find that international players are more fundamentally skilled than players over here, and from what I understand he's a typical international player in that regard.

I really like Andy Kennedy. He's a great guy, but he's going to have the tag of 'interim coach,' which makes it virtually impossible to recruit. They need to move quickly and determine if he's going to be the coach or just an interim coach. You can't do recruiting on a permanent basis, because kids aren't going to make a commitment if they don't know who they are going to play for.

Personally, I think he has the coaching ability. A lot of it will depend on his staff. He'll need to add to his staff an assistant coach who has some connections to urban areas and be able to attract inner-city kids.

I liked the kid. He was friendly in high school -- I'd see him at ABCD or Nike Camp. Then I heard he'd gone to work for an agent, Dan Fegan. Then he got hooked onto Derrick Caracter. ... I think guys who have an agent-like background have their own interest in mind and are extremely detrimental to these players.

I would be shocked if he's not a great college player and a future NBA draft pick.

He is an ideal player for Richmond. He's a good high-low post player who can shoot from 3-point range, perfect for the Princeton offense.

He played in my Memorial Day Tournament of Champions. He was, by far, the most advanced ninth-grader I've ever seen.
