"William Richard Ryan Jr." was an American football player from Cleveland, Ohio, and a starting quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football/University of Notre Dame.

Ryan began his career as the starting quarterback, placekicker and punt returner for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football/Notre Dame football squad in 1907, leading the team to an undefeated season of 6-0-1 in his freshman year.

Following his initial season, Ryan moved to right running back/halfback where he had his best season as a junior in 1909, rushing for over 90 yards in a win over Michigan State Spartans football/Michigan State, and scoring the winning touchdown in the team's first-ever victory over Michigan Wolverines football/Michigan. A knee injury would sideline him for most of his senior season.

In addition to Ryan's skills on the Gridiron football/gridiron, he was a pitcher for the baseball team, a Bass (vocal range)/basso in the campus Glee Club, and a lead actor in the university's theater productions.

Following graduation, he returned to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, where he married Louise Brotherton and worked in real estate.

I think one of their guys thought I was going to go to the net, so I did a 360 [degree turn] and shot it. I knew Derek was in front.

We've had a strong season so far, so it feels like we got rewarded. Now that we're in we have to play hard, play physical, score some goals. Put up more goals than we did the other day. Get all four lines clicking again.

It has become one of the best rivalries in college hockey.

They outworked us the first two periods. They're a good team.

He always said if you want to go to a winning program, go to Maine. They'll never have a losing team.

We didn't even look at their roster. We knew if you played for UNH, you had to be a good hockey player.

We're playing on the same page now.

We talk about it all the time. You grow up wanting to go there (BC), then you start fading away from it a little bit and you'd rather beat them than play for them.
