"William Avery "Billy" Bishop", Victoria Cross/VC, Order of the Bath/CB, Distinguished Service Order/DSO & Bar, Military Cross/MC, Distinguished Flying Cross/DFC, Canadian Efficiency Decoration/ED, LL.D. (8 February 1894 – 11 September 1956) was a Canadian World War I/First World War flying ace, officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace of the war. During the World War II/Second World War, Bishop was instrumental in setting up and promoting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
