I thought we responded well to the bus ride, but made some little mistakes. They big played us at the beginning, then we were hanging tough with them. At the end, they just kind of wore us out. It's my fault. The boys gave a good effort. I've got to do a better job coaching as far as practice goes.
We know as long as we play hard and play smart defensively and with the goaltending we've got, we're not afraid that if it's a 1-0 or 2-1 game we can't come out on top. Teams playing down the stretch are playing their absolute best, and that's what we have to give them.
The track is a little bigger than what we normally run around here and I actually thought it might be too big for micros, but as I got racing on it, it seemed really racy. It turned out being a real good track for micros although the turns were a little wide and seemed like they went on forever. You could probably start last and win on the track.
We started 14th and got off to a real good start and moved up pretty quick. I was running second on a lap 11 restart and I tried passing right away but couldn't make it happen. I just sort of hung around behind (Jim Young), and on a lap 18 restart I got beside him in one and two and made the pass down the backstretch.
Nick has to have a good game throwing the ball. Gatlinburg-Pittman likes to crowd the line of scrimmage. If we can spread the field, I think we can move the ball.
