Those guys bring out the best in each other.

It's been a little bit of a struggle for those guys, but they felt they had to do what they had to do. They had to go with the coaching and the program where they felt like they could reach their potential. It's been unfortunate.

He's definitely going to be able to get on the podium again.

I cried my eyes out. That was typical Derek. He stepped up and skated a very good race when he had to. To come through like that, he's just a champion.

He has been hopeless and helpless. It was just so hard to see as a coach.

He's going to be better in four years than he is now. He's still learning. He's still not done.

He was down and out. I tried to help him, but there's only so much a coach can do.

This is such a huge relief, a big burden off his shoulders. I think he can definitely get back on the podium again. We've got six weeks to make it happen.

If she wins a medal at the Olympics, she can create a big podium to talk about her abuse, how to prevent it from happening to other people. That's what I'm trying to tap into. I want her to use that as motivation.
