I was very pleased. We hit a little bit better than I had anticipated. From the top of the order to the bottom, we were well-rounded and consistent.

Going into the games, I wasn't sure what to expect from our hitters just going against out pitchers. I guess our pitchers had a little more movement than what we faced down there.

Even when we were up 3-2 in the sixth, I turned to my assistant coach and said, 'I'd really like to play all seven. I didn't want to win in six innings. I'd rather play the full game out.

A lack of clutch hits has been a problem for us the last couple of weeks. We've been getting hits but not when we need them.

Overall, I thought we pitched well. We gave up a few runs, but the freshmen were composed and threw well. Ashley looked the part of a seasoned veteran and Dorn looked very good.

The umpire told us that was going to be the last inning and that they were going to call the game. So we knew we would win if we could hold on. They came through with some big hits at opportune times.

I feel comfortable putting her everywhere. She's very solid. She hustles all the time. She really sets an example for everyone.

Ideally, you would like to come out and win both games. These were good games and we'll learn from each of them.

Our pitchers have been doing a pretty good job. We're not asking them to go out there and strike everyone out. We have a pretty tough defense behind them.
