It's important that there doesn't appear to be preconceived perceptions of what the outcome will be. It's going to be thoroughly researched. The report that is going to come out at the end will drive the conversation, because the bill is up for reauthorization in 2007.

I can't think of anything I would rather spend my time on. I really believe my job as a School Board member is to help increase student achievement, and I feel this is one way I can help do it by working on a piece of legislation that affects every school across the nation.

I just love this plan. It's just so warm and welcoming.

My first meeting is March 6 in Washington, D.C., where I will find out who the other commissioners are and when I'll get a better idea of what the task is and what the calendar is going to look like.
