Carter has become a weapon for us with his kicks.

We've got to be better defensively. And if we're going to be good defensively, it all starts up front.

Our offensive linemen have decent size. The 2000 state championship team averaged 260 pounds up front. We're pretty close to that average (257 pounds) this year.

Michael has a strong arm, and is getting better with his ball-fakes. He spent last year away from the position, so there's still some rust that needs shaking.

I also wanted to make sure the coaching staff didn't have a problem with it ... and that it was Greg and I coaching together. Once we knew the staff would be intact, it was like 'Why not? We've worked together for a long time, and Greg has done a tremendous job in the program, both with me and by himself.

At halftime, we challenged the kids. We weren't executing on offense. After our first drive, we didn't score, and the fumble hurt us.

The difference is the little things. The little things that determine whether you win or lose.

The big thing was we didn't play well ... but we came out with a victory, which is always a positive.

Our offensive line is perhaps our most experienced area. It's a good group.
