"Al Cooper" was

a saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader.

He founded the Savoy Sultans and was their leader from 1937 to 1946.

He also played at the 101 Club on Lenox Avenue in New York and

other places. He was also the uncle of the avant-garde jazz trombonist and composer Grachan Moncur III.

It's probably the worst basketball we've played all year, and it couldn't have come at a worse time. I'm just very disappointed, and not necessarily with the physical, but with the mental. We just lost it out there.

That's heroic stuff. We knew he'd be (our top player as a freshman) and he's worked hard to develop. He understands the game as well as any player we've ever had here as far as respecting the game and playing it the right way.

I think the team was so happy for playing a good half that they forgot we had 16 more minutes to play. It's kind of disappointing this late in the year.
