We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28.

Anthony Kiedis

I'm really impressed by your consistent ability to pick songs that totally suit your quirky style.

Sass Jordan

I'm a mess but God is dealing with me every day. That's what all these songs are about: problem, cause and solution.

Lauryn Hill

We write what we know about. It's easy to write songs about things you're familiar with. We're all collective writers.

Randy Huth

Writing short, catchy pop songs was the hardest thing for me to do. The reason boils down to how things are perceived. The most mystifying thing is why a certain combination of words and melody will blow people's minds, while others - which is 99.9 percent of all songs - fall flat. That for me was the search: to discover how to create songs that had that quality.

Bill Henderson

We grew up so much we had to limit it to two songs per person.

Ronnie Williams

A lot of the guys in that band were older, and they taught me what I should and shouldn't do as a musician. Taught me to be proud of being a musician. They didn't stop me from seeing the bad things, but they taught me to come to work with a tie on, shoes shined and to know the chords and such of the songs.

Jerome Richardson

One of the songs is even an original composition for this concert.

Neil Dunn

We don't know exactly what the program will be, but Chuck's always been known for his ability to pick great songs. Whatever he picks will make a great show.

Amanda Matthews

Everyone was on their feet and he was so touched with their affection that he came back in the encore to sing eight more songs. It was unbelievable.

Lazaro Megret

I consider myself a songwriter first. Some songs come quick. It's just a matter of getting in here and explaining to these guys what I'm hearing . . .

Ben Foster

Some people come to our shows and think they're gonna spend the night just listening to love songs, and they're pretty much surprised cause we do a lot of rock and roll.

Bobby Hatfield

We were a duo on tour, but it was his music and his songs. I was kind of his Vanna White/singing partner/torch-song singer. I was the straight man to his funny man.

Leslie Feist

We make every show different with a unique set list. Playing different songs at each show keeps us a little nervous and more attentive.

Neil Fallon

I was kind of surprised after making the record, like, 'Wow, there are a lot of god references here!' I didn't realize I was thinking about that so much. There are a lot of cynical elements to these songs, and there's sort of the expression of dissatisfaction ? but not without hope at the end. It's about putting all that aside and having a little bit of faith.

Jenny Lewis

The people who are making money are the ones who are writing and singing their own songs.

Jimmy Webb

Our songs are a celebration of life, ... A lot of our songs are hopeful, overall. There are some sad songs, but you come away from them seeing the positive side. That's the spirit of the RubberBand.

Ryan Shupe

The idea was to take these great songs, take them out of their production style and their dated recording style, and show them for the songs that they are--as if you had just played them on an acoustic guitar. It's all about timeless songwriting, really.

John Oates

I started recording because I was always complaining about the records that I was getting of my songs. At least if I did them and messed them up, I wouldn't have anyone else to blame.

Randy Newman

It's just really nice when more people listen to your music and like you, and there's nothing greater than playing a show and having the audience know your songs, ... And for practical reasons, I want to play our stuff more and provide better conditions for my band and us, and buy more instruments.

Yuka Honda

In the next few weeks, they will have polished at least 14 songs so they will have a good set ready to perform.

Todd Young

This album is the same balance we've always had with melodic, riff-based rock songs, but we brought in the programming aspect on this one. We worked with a string quartet on two different songs. We always approach each song individually, try to make the most of each song and bring it to life as much as possible.

Dean Roland

We looked and said, `This one might be right. This is sort of what we need.' We had to leave out, obviously, about the same amount of songs we had in.

Marshall Brickman

If an artist has five or six or seven albums in his or her catalog, a lot of times many retailers are only carrying two or three. Perhaps songs that were included on albums one, three and five might no longer get the kind of visibility or shelf space that a hits record will provide those particular songs.

Jeff Jones

For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.

Reba Mcentire

We'll be performing songs I couldn't get out of town without playing, as well as stuff you've never heard before. It's music that will make people happy.

Chuck Mangione

Have children in the home suggest songs from school. Hold a contest for the happiest song, the best song about animals or another topic. Give ribbons or certificates to the best songs.

James Elliott

I do everything from Men at Work right through to the songs I'm working on at the moment, ... It's great when you have new songs to play.

Colin Hay

The album is kind of hard to compare to our previous work. Our stuff in the past has been very rock 'n' roll and punk pop. We definitely elaborated on what people would expect from us. The new songs are very new and different. We definitely kept the roots so you see flavors of that.

Laura Baca

I was adopted when I was about a year old. My adopted parents tried, but their marriage was doomed. Music saved my life. I couldn't relate to things in Baton Rouge, but I found songs that spoke to me.

Mary Gauthier

We didn't have a lot of good songs; we were all about just playing good live shows. We didn't even care about the music; that was secondary. We just cared about working real hard.

Dan Marsala

I really enjoy the therapeutic value of writing songs.

Shannon Hoon

These songs have always been with me. They have helped me through some rough times. When I felt like I had nothing, I still had these songs.

Aaron Neville

I didn't write those songs, but I can relate to every one of them... I have.

Joss Stone

We can afford to give songs away for free (and pay bands) because we make money getting them into film soundtracks and TV shows, and that's a pretty lucrative means of money.

Stan Savage

Even though he sings the same songs night after night, he never disappoints, ... He always gives 100 percent, and no matter how old he gets, he always sounds like Johnny Mathis.

Johnny Mathis

A first for Consumption, I think, We're playing stripped-down acoustic, which is how our songs start... .Just Gina and a guitar.

Gina Turner

Writing songs is super intimate. It's a bit like getting naked.

Gwen Stefani

I decided it was time to pay tribute to my own songs, to give them the opportunity to mature and be adult.

Nanci Griffith

We're just looking forward to getting home, but it's not going to be us not seeing each other or anything like that. We can't wait to get back into the garage, hammer out ideas for songs, go out for dinners together, work on the new album. You know, do sh-- like that.

Ronnie Vannucci

But thousands of people march to my songs, some just ignore me and shuffle along, some other tip me, hah, and sometimes they sing right along.

Jon English

It is one of the many love songs I have written to the city that I lived in.

Jarvis Deberry

She goes home and sings these songs, and I love it.

Debra Robinson

We gather for prayer, and reading the Bible, and singing the songs of David.

William Brewster

What Napster said today, which they have essentially have been denying for the last year, was that they could filter out unauthorized songs.

Hillary Rosen

People often ask me would I swap the artistic reputation of a top 20 hit but I wouldn't and that comes down to how we feel about the music. Even in the early days when we formed in Brisbane we were always shocked after playing a gig that people we had never met before would come up to us and congratulate us on the songs and in a sense we've kept that naive sort of innocence about us.

Robert Forster

After Friday's premiere, you'll be able to download the lyrics for all the songs, and on Saturday, we're going to be doing a karaoke version of the film with the lyrics on the screen.

Gary Marsh

They're songs I honestly wish I'd written. I had a huge list of songs but wanted to keep the album a little bit more on the moody side.

Rick Springfield

Normally when we go in and write the songs we write, we think about doing a cover, but never a covers record. That would be, for us, a concept. We don't want to have a concept!

Robert Cray

The process depends on the situation, and I don't think there are any two songs that have gone exactly the same way... well, actually, that's not true.

Michael Mckean

Either you write songs or you don't. And if you do write songs like I do, I think there's a natural desire to want to make records.

Roger Waters

It actually took several months to pare the songs down. It is essentially the best songs taken from each album that we made, what we would consider the highlights. And then we edited our choices down to the point that we wouldn't have an eight-hour concert.

Seamus Egan

We'll figure it out; we'll keep to our own songs. (The ballad) `Fall To Pieces' goes over quite well; it's not completely alien, ... But it's Black Sabbath, man. I mean, if it was just Black Sabbath and us, it would be totally compatible.

Duff Mckagan

I've now been adding some of the songs from 'The Last Great Traffic Jam, ... So I cannot possibly play (all) these songs in three hours but I do change the set up every night. We always enjoy playing.

Steve Winwood

O Brother, Where Art Thou? I was really impressed hearing Meryl Streep belting out these songs.

Bob Berney

It's the combination of songs and styles the band uses that makes them so unique. They have diversity and a witty flare about them that audiences relate to.

Dana Roberts

Some great outdoor party songs, some big hits that will encourage in listeners a little nostalgia when the summer has passed, and the kind of tribal energy tracks that make people move!

David Knapp

Every year we celebrate the holy season of Advent, O God. Every year we pray those beautiful prayers of longing and waiting, and sing those lovely songs of hope and promise.

Karl Rahner

Sometimes the best songs almost write themselves.

Bill Anderson

Pure entertainment is not an egotistical lady singing boring songs onstage for two hours and people in tuxes clapping whether they like it or not. It's the real performers on the street who can hold people's attention and keep them from walking away.

Andy Kaufman

I don't want to be insensitive, but all businesses seem to struggle here and there. And every one of them is putting money into the county. I've been in business 25 years --- I could sing a lot of sad songs. I can't support this.

Scott Jordan

We are flattered that a star of Tim McGraw's magnitude wants to dedicate one of his songs to halftime of 'Monday Night Football,' .

Fred Gaudelli

I just want to be able to write the best songs that we can write. It's strictly about rock and roll for us.

Brandon Phillips

He hasn't had a hit song since 1966 with 'An Old-Fashioned Wedding,' but these days you can't go to many places in Manhattan without bumping into him. We all know his songs, and they are all part of who we are.

David Leopold

We went into [producer] Youth's studio in Spain just to jam. In the first nine days, we got 24 songs. Instead of it being about ballads, all these big anthems came out.

Danny Mcnamara

People laugh about that old joke where country music songs are about getting your truck repossessed. Well, I did have my truck repossessed, ... I did leave a good job for a shot at stardom only to end up with a career in retail.

Cowboy Troy

In 1963 we did every one of these songs with Jerry.

David Nelson

But when you look at some of the songs that have won in the past -- there's some amazing songs -- it's just a compliment to be nominated.

Jon Hume

Level-two students have the ability to handle songs that are harder. To higher level students I give different assignments, other songs and tests.

Hong Zhang

Playing these songs live is the big reward. It feels great.

Steve Mazur

I don't want to be 35 years old and still popping out songs in miniskirts and la-la-la.

Holly Valance

We have that driving bluegrass authentic and traditional sound, but I don't have your typical real high bluegrass voice. I sing like I sing, and I like to intermingle both audiences. We try to pick selections and songs that really capitalize on that sound.

Michelle Nixon

Through practice you'll learn to identify the wrong 'un which should be heaved back over his syrup. You'll be singing happy little songs about the whereabouts of his missus in no time.

James Houston

There's new young bands out there that just have incredible, really great songs.

Citizen Cope

It's not unusual for songs to be like that.

Alan Doyle

While we may not have been considered the best musicians on the scene, the combination of John's songs and the core of the rhythm section made us so strong.

Steve Boone

One of our most popular channels is 'Sirius Hits,' which plays the most popular songs in high rotation. But we have other channels, like bluegrass, where listenership isn't as high, but there's an extremely high level of satisfaction. That's the kind of service we can provide.

Patrick Reilly

[For the first several songs, Hiatt performed with rock 'n' roll energy, sawing away on his guitar and blowing his harmonica with near abandon. After completing a furious version of] Your Dad Did, ... I love folk music.

John Hiatt

We had about 30 songs. I picked some I thought my mom would really like and some I liked. We went in with piano and acoustic guitar, and overdubbed organ on some of them, and a couple harmony vocals. We were just really loose with it.

Alan Jackson

Really that is what we are doing, living the dream. You don't need a million dollars, a record label, or songs on the radio to do that.

Rick Pierson

That was the first song I heard from another writer when we first started to listen to outside songs.

Luis Fonsi

Keith introduces most songs on guitar, ... But right before we started I asked Keith if he'd mind if I did a little cadenza up front on sax to lead into his intro. He said, 'Go ahead, man, do your thing.' I started playing, and Charlie immediately joined me. I had this short statement in mind, but then I thought, 'Charlie's playing with me; I've got to keep going.'

Tim Ries

It's a timeless idea. There's nothing phony about it. It's just taking an artist and their songs in the rawest medium. It's not a gimmick. There's something special to seeing an artist really singing, really playing. The lyrics become very important.

Alex Colletti

It's so new. We haven't played any of the songs live yet, but there's some really good ideas floating around.

Pelle Almqvist

She didn't care about the story behind these songs. I could show her the melody, and she could do something absolutely fresh and new. Something really strong happened with this formula.

Olivier Libaux

Music is also supposed to be fun. On this record, (titled 'III'), I really had the desire again to jump back into some good-time, fun-loving songs.

Joe Nichols

The other night I stayed up late, and I saw an ad for a record of greatest hits of '60s and '70s and they showed the Jackson 5 doing their songs, and they were all wearing jumpsuits just like Elvis.

Mike Albert

We wrote three songs together that were basically the band commenting on the action of the play. As it turns out, two of them made it into the show.

Gene Lewin

On the other hand, there's never pressure on one person to come up with an album's worth of songs every year, ... We only have to concentrate on four or five songs each. It's something we're all comfortable with; some other people wouldn't be. We're not very confrontational people; we like things to go smoothly.

Norman Blake

We're called The Bravery because that's the mindset I was in when I was writing the songs.

Sam Endicott

I give bird songs to those who dwell in cities and have never heard them, make rhythms for those who know only military marches or jazz, and paint colors for those who see none.

Olivier Messiaen

If customers want to store more than 20 CDs worth of songs, they should consider one of our hard-drive players.

Liem Nguyen

Sometimes I try to listen to songs a couple years ago just to bring myself back to that place before all this happened and got so crazy. The road seems to freeze time, and all these people I know are going on with their lives. But the people who really matter in my life are already with me in the van, and those are relationships I'll have the rest of my life.

Dan Layus

Springsteen's never written another 'Born In The USA,' ... He's written some amazing songs since then, though, that are well respected. I think it's a matter of growing as an artist and a writer.

Shawn Mullins

I've written songs about things that nobody else has ever written about.

David Allan Coe

We represent peace, goodwill, understanding. We sing songs that speak to those issues.

Troy Fisher

I think the individual writers are out there punching away but the market is not there. The Top 40 as we knew it was a kind of open forum where people could come and sing their songs and that's not there any more.

Jimmy Webb

I've learned that my people are not the only ones oppressed.. . . I have sung my songs all over the world and everywhere found that some common bond makes the people of all lands take to Negro songs as their own.

Paul Robeson

It's one of those songs that when we play for an audience it's interesting to see people's reactions. What do you think soldiers are? Where do you think they come from? All those soldiers have mothers and fathers. I always like a song that makes people think a bit.

Margo Timmins

My songs are about anything my son does that I seem to find funny and that all dads and moms can enjoy and can relate to.

Krista Eyler

Music-hall songs provide the dull with wit, just as proverbs provide them with wisdom.

W. Lee Grant

One of the daughters was married to a handsome young mulatto, who was present, and sang us some pretty songs, accompanying himself on the guitar.

Henry Walter Bates

[The cast sings its lungs out in the joyously arranged, often stylistically updated songs. The actors share the narration with the same grace with which they share embodiments of the man himself. Will Chase is the most persuasive John. Marcy Harriell delivers a powerhouse] Woman Is the Nigger of the World. ... Mother.

Julia Murney

Shoot, we go through hundreds of songs to find 12, ... It's like that on every album that I do.

Trace Adkins

We decided to let the songs determine where the record was going to go. I had written only a couple of songs before, but we decided just to go with our gut and try different approaches to everything.

Robert Been

I only have time for a few songs.

Chris James

The songs are great and they're radio-friendly, ... so we have six, seven, eight possibilities at singles.

Clive Davis

I feel like this is more of an open, optimistic record, but there is a theme of mortality that floats through it. For me, I find myself being more obsessed with destinations and endings over the last couple years, even when something is going really well. I like the idea of having a love song about people dying rather than love songs about walking hand in hand down the sand.

Ben Gibbard

I was lucky that way. I always held on to it and appreciated it, ... The songs on this album were more personal and I really wanted to sing them.

Jason Mraz

If I go back to when I was 18 years old, here was this group writing songs and playing rock 'n' roll songs like nobody else. It was amazing.

Curtis Remington

It's all over the map, but there's one thing that runs through it all: They all write their own songs, perform their own songs and record their own songs.

Terry Mcbride

I still like to keep all the love songs for the Grobanites, I like to make sure that they know those are just for them.

Josh Groban

People that have heard it compare it to early Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. It's some of the best songs David's ever written - really dark and beautiful rock.

Johnny Hickman

The main thing that everyone was looking for in selecting which songs would go on this anthology were the ones in which the bass was really prominent.

Stanley Clarke

I said to myself, 'Man, I'm so tired of hearing songs about peoples' ex-girlfriends. It's really nauseating. And the whole me, me, me aspect of it was just like (overdone).

Gerard Way

The songs are classic Neil Diamond songs. Nobody else could have possibly written them. The sound of the album is very personal, intimate and honest.

Rick Rubin

People say I look younger than the music I'm doing just because the songs are older. Hopefully I can keep my youthful look!

Natalie Cole

We didn't have a single agenda when we made this album. We didn't write these songs to appeal to record labels? We are creating our music for music enthusiasts.

Bradd Shapiro

Most of these are love songs where I'm trying to come to grips with relationships. They're frequently told from the point of view of ex-lovers, so at first it may seem like I'm being arrogant, but actually I'm eating humble pie. I'm cutting open a vein and letting it bleed for you.

Brian Molko

I don't feel like I'm setting out to do any heroic preservation. I just love this music ... I did songs that felt like home to me.

Martina Mcbride

It was the front porch approach. For most of the songs, we were all playing all the time, as opposed to layering the sound. It's a collection of dumb little songs we make up when we should be doing something else with our lives.

Bruce Roper

We were playing a lot of songs that Kiss hadn't played in years, or haven't played at all. One day, Doc McGhee, the manager, came into the dressing room, and said, 'We really need to film and record this show, because it's so good. It's probably the best Kiss performance I've seen.' So we said, 'OK.' That was the spark that got the whole thing going.

Tommy Thayer

That's the thing about these songs, they're not about hot licks. They're about the stories. It was tempting to do these songs very modern. But I kept them very minimal.

Hank Harris

The Clash did a song. Nick Cave did a song. All these blues figures have done songs about him. It's kind of interesting that this man was a nobody.

Colin Nesbit

Up till now I wrote the songs on my acoustic guitar alone with the Lord. Then I would take the song and share it with my family and then we all would figure out instrumentation together.

Daniel Smith

He has modified his Elvis songs to reflect conservation awareness.

Margaret Thomas

It's a mantle we don't deserve. That's not what we're about. We do big pop songs with bombast -- and it's the bombast and the production thing that allude to being metal more than it really is.

Def Leppard

A bell's not a bell 'til you ring it A song's not a song 'til you sing it Love in your heart wasn't put there to stay Love isn't love 'til you give it away!

Oscar Hammerstein Ii

This is the first record contract I've had that was based strictly on me, on my live show. They just saw me as somebody who did a good show, and then they didn't inhibit me in choosing the songs.

Bettye Lavette

I'm a child of the '70s and I feel the appeal of the songs popular then have never gone out of style, because the sounds of this era were unlike anything heard before.

Lawson Roberts

We've got a full schedule, ... We're excited because we're on the verge of releasing our fifth CD. We will have a lot of comedy on it, and songs about chickens. We love to make people laugh.

Tim White

What I don't like is getting over and not having enough time to rehearse properly. Just because they know the songs it's not like playing the album.

Michael Bruce

It's a very big part of our history. It has always been music for our tourist industry and that's where it really came out from, this idea of writing songs and performing songs in English so that the tourists could understand.

Vicky Holt Takamine

Just seeing the things on TV and the things in front of you, the amount of information coming in, and the lack of information not coming in, how could you not help but write songs about it.

Billie Joe Armstrong

We keep it interesting by playing songs we haven't played together before, or doing new arrangements of songs Nine Inch Nails is known for.

Alessandro Cortini

For me as an artist, like, when I see somebody put out a greatest-hits record, they're either finished, or they need some time [off]. I kind of felt it was too soon to put those great songs on a CD. I think I wanted our fans to miss them a little bit.

Brian Littrell

The 'Three songs from the Shadow' are going to be performed by one of our really outstanding students, Tyler Nelson. Jeffrey Price will be the pianist for those, but those are really interesting and fun songs, and Tyler will do them beautifully, absolutely beautifully.

Robert Walzel

In addition to my (counseling) practice, I've had a lengthy career in music. Years ago, I sang country songs in the Saloon. When I heard it was for sale, it was very exciting.

Linda Palermo

We're opening, so it's just an hour — we'll choose the songs that suit the slot. Sometimes it's three songs, sometimes it's only two.

Omar Rodriguez lopez

The Rolling Stones thought the censorship of their songs ... was absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary.

Fran Curtis

I didn't feel the inclination to put myself out on a limb that much on my first solo album. I stayed with songs that are simple and unpretentious. That's what I do best.

Christine Mcvie

I have been very fortunate from the get-go because I am a songwriter and was writing songs and was fortunate enough that I was getting pitched top-shelf songs because the songwriters were my friends.

Craig Morgan

No, it would not be acceptable. Yes, we have veto power over certain songs in the set list. But we also understand that these guys are artists, and we try and allow them to be so.

Charles Coplin

I go through a thousand songs to find ten for a new record.

Conway Twitty

Sandro definitely brought a lot of ideas to what we're doing, and helped with the cohesiveness of the album. It's really good to have an outside perspective in deciding things like which songs to keep and knowing when they're complete.

Don Kennedy

Quit shouting those rerun songs at me.

Wesley Willis

Motown is the soundtrack of our lives. These are songs we have always wanted to do, and now, happily, we have had a chance to do them.

Otis Williams

Many now know all the words to the songs. If the audience is bored, we're bored. If the audience is on fire, we're on fire.

Ralph Fortune

Obviously, we weren't happy that the album wasn't coming out, ... But we said, 'If it's going to be delayed, then let's take the time to go in and find some better songs.'

Keith Burns

I don't write as much as I did back when I was writing songs every day, ... But when current events and world situations get in your brain, that's the way I sort it out.

Kris Kristofferson

After one week, it sold a million records. Then it went on to sell five million. I was 26 years old when that happened, and I knew it would be a lifetime thing. I'm still singing Elvis songs.

Ronnie Mcdowell

I see the next record as being a little more diverse than what we've done before. We will take it to the extreme. Some of them will be very mechanical and heavy and others very rhythmic. We're also going to incorporate a sense of dynamics and some of the songs will be the darkest we've done.

Tim Lambesis

I was a student at Columbia College, actually, in the Architecture school. Paul would drive in from Queens, showing me these new songs. I can't remember us working it out.

Art Garfunkel

The mixture of music we play, draws an eclectic crowd, all ages, all types. These are songs you aren't going to hear anywhere else in Albuquerque but here.

Josh Williams

[Musical mush: Especially, note many users, the introductory songs for each batter.] If I ever hear Who Let the Dogs Out at Wrigley Field, ... I quit.

Matt Walker

The whole idea is to make it something that is appealing to all ages. The kids sometimes know more about the music than the musicians. Some of (the songs) are cartoon themes.

Heidi Dallin

Obviously, Miami is a different way of life than New York. My grittier street songs are definitely influenced by New York. Just driving down the Bronx in my old neighborhood can inspire me every day. You never know what you are going to see or hear. I can't really say there is one thing that most inspires me from New York. But the city as a whole always gives me material to write about.

Joe Cartagena

It's more interesting this way. I don't see the point in replicating the songs like these Dead cover bands do. These songs are made to be interpreted. It's fun for us and the audience.

Jeff Pevar

A lot of bands in music history have had titles that were easy for radio DJs. We wanted to have titles that were true to the songs. That sets us apart.

Pete Wentz

A part of my job is to bring the news from elsewhere to here and to take back some news from here. . . . You can't change the world singing songs, believe me, but you can offer people an alternative perspective, even on their own situations. So that's what I'm trying to do.

Billy Bragg

I took out these songs and realized they could still connect with an audience. And people were very touched by the material.

Joey Miller

We got a really good idea for how it felt to play the songs for fans ahead of time and we were able to capture that in recording.

Bradd Shapiro

August is a big month for me. I haven't had an album out in some time and I'm especially proud of this one. It's my first album on my own label and I was able to do the songs I want to do just as I want to do them. I'm happy to have the chance to share my excitement with GAC's audience as 'Artist of the Month'.

Neal Mccoy

I think once I figured out where my groove was or my thing that everybody started honing in on what they could pitch me. I demoed a lot of great songs that I didn't cut, and some turned into big hits like 'Roundabout Way,' and 'Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo,' but they just didn't work for me.

Craig Morgan

I (think) he was trying to find some hint of his childhood. He struggled with the memories. That may be why his songs were so dark: He was looking into a well.

Joe Ely

We get a lot of the new songs in, but we play a lot of the old classics and even some stuff that people don't expect.

John Oates

Most of my songs are about Jesus. Most of my songs are about the idea that there is salvation, and that there is a Savior. But I won't mention his name in a song just to get a cheap play.

Peter Townsend

One of the reasons we survive as a band is that we are seen as a band of today. We don't want to be seen as a band that tours and plays old songs. We feel that we are making the best music of our careers.

Andrew Fletcher

We recorded over a dozen songs we had just learned the day before. I knew before I went in to record that I couldn't screw up. These musicians were the best, and I'm sure they felt at first that I was a joke.

John Corbett

I always want people to - to get the message that I'm trying to send out. You know, I've been through some things, so when I get up there and sing my songs, I'm like, Hey, I've been through it, and I want to encourage somebody else that if you're going through it, you can come out.

Fantasia Barrino

About two weeks before I left (to promote the new album), God just hit the creative gas pedal on me and I wrote like 14 new songs, ... So I have an album sitting in my pocket.

Richie Sambora

We're 100 percent going with the flow, no songs whatsoever. That's as structured as it gets.

Jamie Janover
