"William Doyle Ruckelshaus" is an American attorney and former U.S. government official. He served as the first head of the United States Environmental Protection Agency/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1970, was subsequently acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and then United States Deputy Attorney General/Deputy Attorney General of the United States. During 1983 through 1985 he returned as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency/EPA Administrator.
