In the final analysis, when it all comes down to the bottom line, we will respect parents' decision around the safety of their sons and daughters. They have the ultimate final call, and we will respect that call and grant that student an excused absence.

Any parent who wants their kid tested for drugs can do so at no expense to them.

We cannot make the call until 3 or 3:30 in the morning. But we're watching it closely. If the forecast indeed delivers the additional inches predicted, we will look at it very, very critically and consider the safety.

Schools have to be viewed within communities as necessary services. Students are expected to attend, just as if that were their job.

Our attempt is to gather as much information as we humanly can and make a decision based on safety. Safety is the bottom line.

Unfortunately, it's one of those situations where, whatever is recommended, at least 50 percent of people are guaranteed to be upset.
