"Walter Ferguson Smith", Order of the British Empire/OBE is a Scotland/Scottish association football/football player, manager (football)/manager and director. He is primarily associated with his two spells in charge of Scottish club Rangers F.C./Rangers.

Smith had an unremarkable playing career, consisting of two spells with Dundee United F.C./Dundee United which was split by a short time at Dumbarton F.C./Dumbarton. A pelvic injury meant he moved into coaching at Dundee United F.C./Dundee United, working for manager Jim McLean, while he also took charge of the Scotland under-18 and under-21 teams. Smith was assistant to Alex Ferguson at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico after it had been announced that he would be moving to Rangers F.C./Rangers as assistant to Graeme Souness.

Smith became the manager of Rangers in 1991, succeeding Souness. He won 13 major trophies in seven years, including seven league titles in succession. After leaving Rangers at the end of the 1997–98 season, he was appointed manager of Premier League club Everton F.C./Everton. He was in charge at Goodison Park for four seasons before he was sacked in 2002.

We are going to be playing against a country who have their sights on getting at least a play off position for the world cup, which for us if we are going to have any hope we have to continue. So it'll be a game where both sides will be well up for it, and I think it'll be an excellent match.

It's disappointing. The young player was just coming into the team and making his way. He would have come into our thoughts.

When you lose more than 16 million square feet of real estate in half a day...there's obviously a very intense search going on in this city and throughout this region.

Sadly, there is nothing we can do about it. The current Fifa ruling regarding release of players extends to just four days before a World Cup tie.

Equity for District residents wasn't built in a day. We've been working on it for 100 years, and we're still not there. But we won't give up.

This one is a case of win- or-bust.

You are the one who seems to have no understanding of the process.

It may be that John and others didn't see this case as a gay-rights case.
