With my music locked into a system created by one company, what can I do if the format changes or the company goes out of business? In 25 years I want my children to be able to listen to the Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones music I purchased.

This is not a drastic change. It makes more sense to have a commercial entity doing this rather than a public foundation.
