The first time I picked her up, she took me into her house and autographed a copy of one of her books. That was a great 'thank you,' especially since I am an African American and we felt a common bond. But it was also obvious to me that writing was her life.

I am definitely happy. The house turned out beautiful. I was born and raised in Annapolis, as a matter of fact right from the Clay Street area. I am coming back home and it is something that I can call my own.
