We can take a lot of confidence from last week as we played well against one of the top teams in the country. We had good possession in good areas, we tested their keeper on a number of occasions. We need to be more ruthless in front of goal but we can take a lot of confidence into this week's game against Celtic.

They were going on about how they had been stung by criticism from all quarters and told us they were going to take the game by the scruff of the neck. England did not show that. The longer it went on, the more belief Northern Ireland got. They had a great attitude, great pace and great fighting qualities.

I had him in my youth team when he was 15. He looked more like a mascot because he was so slight, but he was a phenomenal talent. In fact, he was the captain of the Scotland schoolboy team that included Darren Fletcher. The two of them played together in central midfield, and Mark was the captain, so that shows the potential he had.

If we continue playing like that we'll win more games than we lose.

Steve has a good grounding in the game and this is a big opportunity for him.

Maurice had a 6ft 6in minder behind him so I don't know if Kenny will get one, too. I don't think it will be as bad, but the whole thing is nonsense. He is the Scotland No.9 and he will do well.

Wayne Rooney is wasted switching between the right and left hand side. He's got to play through the middle, playing to his strengths. He came inside in the second half but didn't know what he was doing.

I have always been a big fan of Kris. Signing him is a major piece of Rangers jigsaw completed now. He always seems to score against us when he was at Kilmarnock. I have no doubts he is going to be one of the top players in this country. He is going to keep improving with the good players around him at Rangers and will get into the Scotland squad. The world's his oyster.

In my opinion, his best position is midfield, the holding position in front of the defenders, but he will have to wait for that one, I think.
