The momentum is building for IP line sales. For example, the rate of growth in the fourth quarter 2005 was about 50% higher than the past several quarters. This new level of growth is sustainable because manufacturers have enhanced the feature richness of their IP products, and users are more familiar and comfortable with voice over IP.

This is the kind of stuff I love to do, but I'm always nervous. And people around you are nervous because anything that's different, or new, makes people nervous. We are not doing the same old, same old here.

That transition is extremely young right now.

Telecom service providers worldwide are following Asia's lead in preparing their networks for Voice over IP, and they are clearly picking up the pace of deployment. The most notable acceleration has come from European service providers. They have stimulated tremendous demand for broadband access over the past year or two, and now they are preparing for the next step of Voice-over-Broadband.
