We see fundamental security and reliability issues built into these electronic machines. The point is, that if there is a vulnerability to hackers, the only way to assure that the numbers come out right is to be able to do a recount that's dependent upon a paper trail.

We're not confident that these machines have a clear track record and today doesn't make us feel any better. We've been told, 'Don't worry. It will all be taken care of.' Well, it's almost April and there are still questions.

It's time to ask if the faith in this vendor is misplaced. I think we can no longer assume the best.

Now, with those concerns still not put to rest, the county is running out of time.
