"Ronald Scott Stevens" is a retired professional ice hockey Defenceman (ice hockey)/defenceman and a co-head coach of the New Jersey Devils. Stevens played 22 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, and the New Jersey Devils. Although offensively capable, Stevens was largely known for his defensive play and his heavy Checking (ice hockey)/body checking on opponents.

I think the game is more mental than physical. You have to be in tremendous shape, but you have to want to do it in your head. At this point in my career I didn't think I could put the mental parts there every day, and that's a big part of playing this game.

I had enough time to think about it. It's time to move on and look forward to be with my kids who are in school. My health is good; I've always been careful about being in shape.

I loved the physical part of the game, ... It's the part of the game I grew up loving.
