They have a structural accountability problem; they're federally funded, state managed and locally staffed, therefore accountable to no one.

They have a lot of authority to do that already, and the border security problems are exactly the types of crimes that they already have authority to do the wiretapping for.

The real issue is there's just lots of potential for misuse. You open up opportunity for problems that doesn't exist right now with almost no public safety benefit.

I would give them the nod right now.
