Every SSA employee, at some point, will go to another SSA employee for service. Everybody we serve is somebody's mother, somebody's father and somebody's child.

That's what we've been hanging our hat on the last couple years. We're not fancy; everybody knows and we've just got to play hard-nosed football.

They are the ones that have no assurances and are reluctant to invest in their homes because they don't know what's going to happen.

We had public meetings that lasted four to five hours, night after night.

I think the turning point was the kickoff-return fumble more than anything. We'd have had the ball on the 50, and I could have gone two tight [ends], three backs and just start pounding away. I could have done our game plan, but they took it and scored.

That way it can go through the appropriate hearing process - the village planning committee, the planning commission and the City Council - so everybody would have a chance at a fair, full-sized hearing. For some reason, they've been reluctant to do that.

It's unfortunate for Newfoundland, because billions in investments were planned. All that is basically lost now.
