We wanted to put pressure up front and then kick it long, but of course the ball would just go right back to them. In the second half we just said, 'Let's just play.' We moved the ball a little more but not enough.

We have seen this before, but we are big underdogs. All the Valley schools are big underdogs when they get to get to this point. The San Antonio schools are still a little better, but eventually it is going to happen — a Valley team will win.

Two years ago we got to this point, so it's nice to get back. The girls have worked hard to get here, and they deserve it. I think we can play better though, and we're going to have to against McArthur or Churchill, whoever we get.

We needed to muster some kind of offense and we didn't.

We are very happy coming back from almost being in fourth and winning the district title.

We always play Harlingen South well, but I'm certainly not thinking Harlingen High is going to be any piece of cake.

We're just not playing on all cylinders. We're misfiring here and there, with moments of brilliance and moments where we're just not good. But we've got a tough game (today). Harlingen High is going to be ready for us. We're the ones that knocked them out of the playoffs last year, and I hope my girls are ready because they look good this year.

We started passing better in the second half. After we got through the initial part of the game, we started playing better. We had our opportunities. (The Lady Bulldogs) played well and have nothing to be ashamed of.

(Haley Hoffman's) ball dips low and hits the goalpost with less than 10 seconds left. We just were unlucky.
