"Nicholas Dougherty" is an England/English professional golfer.

Dougherty was born in Bootle, Merseyside, and attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn/Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn, Lancashire. He is a protégé of former professional golfer, Nick Faldo, and had an exceptional amateur career. He won numerous tournaments including the 1999 World Boys Championship and three Faldo Junior Series events. In 2001 he was a member of the victorious Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team.

Dougherty turned professional in 2001 and gained membership to the European Tour for 2002 via the final qualifying school. In his début season he finished 36th on the Order of Merit, and was named the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. He was hindered by glandular fever in 2003, and his 2004 season was also disappointing when he slipped to 97th on the Order of Merit. In early 2005 he earned his first victory on the European Tour at the Singapore Masters/Caltex Masters in Singapore, going on to reach the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings in the middle of the year, and ended it in 15th place on the final European Tour Order of Merit. He also made a strong start to the 2006 season before struggling later in the year.

I'm very pleased with the way I handled it, I stayed very patient, ... The seventh hole is really killing me.  The only time I've made par is when I hit it in a bush off the tee.  I'm proud of the way I knuckled down after that.  I've played the back nine in 60 shots the last two days and even had a putt for a 59 there.

The front nine today is how I'd like to play for the rest of my career.

To get a chance to come back and defend your first win is something you only get one chance of doing.

I saw what happened, yes, and I knew I needed a birdie at the 18th to catch him, but it wasn't to be.

I played pretty decent and it was a shame about the end.

It was a good score. I am not playing at my best unfortunately but to have no bogeys in two rounds is very pleasing.

I am playing well and I feel good in myself.

It's disappointing. We should have beaten them, simple as that. We played better. One of those things. But at least the team has pulled it back.

This puts me in great shape for the second round. I love to play well when Tiger is playing ? I haven't had many chances. To play with him Sunday would be a dream scenario.
