Most crimes are committed by people who are not particularly skilled at what they do.

What we see in other parts of the world is not all that uncommon -- kidnapping of wealthy individuals for ransom. And in Canada and the United States we have been relatively immune from that kind of problem.

It may be that this is something that we'll have to face with an increasing frequency in the coming decades.

Either they'll spend a ridiculous, unsubstantiated amount of money on this or, more likely, they'll move to a more private model of corrections.
