I wasn't running a full schedule that year [1966] and Kenny asked me to sit in on the broadcast one Sunday. They felt it would be a nice addition to have a former champion behind the mike. That was my start in broadcasting.

He would work you hard, going here and there all day. That was his style. He'd go out and beat the bushes trying to focus as much attention as he could on an upcoming race.

Who knows, if it wasn't for Kenny, I might never have had that second career.
