She's pitching good, and basically, she keeps us in ball games. It's just kind of how it has worked out. Our senior lefty got hurt, and Kelly came in and just got better and better.

I would have felt better if our girls had scored more runs after the third inning, but it turns out they didn't need to. This will help us enter the district tournament next week on the upbeat. I really wasn't sure it would go our way, but I am glad it did.

She came in and did the job.

I was scared coming in here, because I thought Durant had a good team and they do. I thought it would be a high-scoring game, but I didn't expect them to make so many errors. I am not complaining though, I will take a win over them any time.

The big inning was nice because we had been popping the ball up for two innings. Then we started to get on top of the ball, we scored some runs and everyone started to settle down.

This was a great win for us. East Bay is a quality team and Glenn (Rodriguez) always has a strong hitting team, so for Kristen to hold them to five hits is very good pitching. Our defense also did great to back her up in the field.

If we nickel-and-dime a couple of runs, we had a chance, because we played them even after the first inning. But we had a tough two-game stretch and got a split with Durant and Chamberlain, so I'm not upset at all.

She's so smooth on the mound - that's what I saw in her first start that caught my attention. Nothing bothers her when she pitches.

We said it before the season that this district was even. Whoever scores the most runs is going to win and this is a perfect example. We scored the most runs.
