It's been one of the most rewarding things I've been involved in. It's not just a food festival, which a lot of international fairs seem to be, but an opportunity to learn about other countries and become aware of their art, history and culture.

In summer, it's even worse because we have more people out of school, more people off work, more people on vacation and visiting. They want to come in, who are traveling, to use the Internet to either access e-mails or driving directions.

There was a boy in the class who was, I think, Pakistani, and his mother saw me a couple days later and she was so thankful. There was a certain discomfort, the way people responded to them. I was bothered by that.
