This winter is the first time I am generally discouraged about economic trends in Iraq. While there is some good news, for the first time there is no more good news than bad news.

The Army has truly distinguished itself over the last several years adapting to some very difficult circumstances. But the fact is the troops are tired now and a lot of their equipment is in the shop.

We have had too many bases. We need to be more efficient.

If there's any good news here, it's that computers are getting attacked all the time.

This particular series confuses me about what it is trying to accomplish. It's been a bad winter in Iraq, but I also don't think he has enough new to say, and it's too soon after the fall speeches.

It's all to the good, as far as I'm concerned. We're at war. The Army and Marine Corps have been getting beat up.

I don't think we owe anything more to the Iraqi people, to be blunt. We owe it to our own troops and our own strategic interests.

It could really piss people off and make them more inclined to hold out.
