Bellow is a very important writer for me, and the summer I spent reading him in Germany sparked my desire to dabble in fiction myself. So I'm especially excited to be recognized for my tribute to the late, great Mr. B.

I'm delighted of course. The award is all the more meaningful to me because I worked at The Southern Review for so long, and it's a journal that meant and means a lot to me.

But it will end up, technically, the same way. One way or another, the legislature will decide what happens.
