I got called up from New Orleans, actually.

I met the team in Minnesota. I pinch-hit against Eddie Guardado and struck out. We came back home and I got my first hit against Kenny Rogers. I got 50 at-bats [batting .260]. I was able to have my buddies from college come up and watch me that first month, so it was a pretty special time.

We've got to get on base and score when we have the opportunity. Even in the five or six hole, I'll be taking the same approach with the hit-and-run, moving the ball around. That's how you manufacture runs.

I was surprised by that. I thought he did a real good job for us. And he had been in a pennant race before.

No conspiracy. I think it's more coincidence than anything.

We'd like to open a little bigger lead so we're not having to take it down to the wire.

I guess that's the silver lining. The nice thing about our position is we don't have to watch the scoreboard. It's interesting, and we're gonna do it, but if we can take care of business and win, it's not going to matter.

It was like slow motion. I reached and it was by me. This can be a very humbling game.

We were winning some games in Pittsburgh and Washington [five of six], just keeping the line moving.
