I believe this is a governor who is a libertarian.

I believe this is a governor who at his core is a libertarian on issues of social matters, ... and that he is very fair-minded. I think he also takes the longer, rather than shorter, view of history.

When you set aside all the emotion and hyperbole and drama surrounding this bill, it comes down to simple question. Are we or are we not all first-class citizens?

[After first ducking the issue on Wednesday, Schwarzenegger surprised lawmakers with his statement.] If this is true, ... it would be very disrespectful to the many millions of Californians who support this bill to make a decision without even allowing the proponents to make a case for his signature. This is not just another bill.

Do what we know is in our hearts, ... Make sure all Californians, all California's children and families, will have equal protection under the law.

Do what we know is in our hearts, ... Make sure all California families will have the same protection under the law.

I couldn't do anything but keep going. It says something for being a little bit tenacious.
