It's what he always wanted to do as a young child. It was his passion. He would just sit there and beam every time a chopper passed over the house.

He was there to serve his country and to keep his family and country safe. It was what he wanted to do. He was there for us ... in fact he had re-enlisted for four (more) years.

Just to watch the smile on his face when a chopper flew over. He died doing what he wanted. That was his passion and I know he was happy.

I saw a little ticker at the bottom of the TV that there were two choppers that went down in Africa and then I knew it was Donnie, and the military came by at 9:30 p.m. and said that he was missing and by 2 p.m. Saturday they confirmed that his body was recovered.

Anything about the military, he loved. He knew all about the equipment.

He had a beautiful personality. A loving personality. A friendly personality. A friend everyone would want to have.
