I was pleased with our effort for three of the four games, but we weren't happy with the third-place finish. We had one really poor game against Santa Margarita, but on that night they played very well and we did not.

Holy Cow. That's just how I thought it'd be.

We're going to be looking forward to a very good game on Thursday night at Costa.

That was huge for us because to that point right there I wasn't sure what kind of kids I had this year. I didn't know if we were going to be underachievers this year or what. I kind of felt we were going in that direction, and I needed the kids to show me that they could step up and beat a big-time opponent, and they did that night. It was a very impressive win we had.

That's why we play (those) tough games in December so that we can get better and learn. Learn to see where our weaknesses are and make the adjustments now, in December, January, so we're ready to go come February.

South is a very good team and I knew they were going to be much more competitive the second round.

The kids were really fired up about playing that game because we had played really poorly in that loss to Mt. Miguel. They loved having the opportunity to play them and they definitely got somewhat of a payback.
