This is a very sad day for us. This hunt is not about public safety. This is a trophy hunt, plain and simple. But the bears don't belong to just the hunters. They belong to all of us.

Today, for us, is a very sad day. They're here to kill them, we're here to help them.

We're going to have people in the woods during the hunt looking for wounded bears.

It's clearly a trophy hunt. No one eats the meat.

There's some miscommunication there. We never used the word 'kill.' ... I think we did everything reasonably to take care of this animal.

We're not going to interfere with the hunt. But if a hunter loses an animal in the woods and fails to track it, then we'll attempt to rescue it. And some people are willing to get arrested.

If it's someone's pet and you're keeping it at home, there's just too much room for error there. Hopefully, Lady will not get rabies, but we have to assume the raccoon was rabid.
