We're a lot of different in some regards, but we recognize each other's strengths and interests. He's very numbers oriented, and equipment oriented I'm more of a generalist I'm interested in marketing, advertising and sales. It was a natural breaking up of responsibilities.

We were really good at manufacturing. We have a real niche ... so we started manufacturing index tabs and started marketing those nationwide and selling to other printers and print brokers, and all of a sudden that business took off. The norm was two weeks, and we were offering next-day service, which really got people's attention.

I would get on the bike every morning and ride around downtown with a knapsack on my back and literally pick up orders, most of them sympathy orders. I just kept that route every day just to let people know we were serious.

There's no such thing as a copy anymore. Everything we do now is digitally created somewhere and sent to us, or we create it ourselves. All of our equipment now produces originals. We can take jobs that are very complicated and manufacture it all under one roof without having to send it out.

He finally got to the point where he gave us a key to his print shop and we would print our own stuff and bind our own stuff. It got to where most of the orders in his shop were our orders.
